For almost three hours, several major websites slowed down, threw errors, or went completely offline. Reported affected services include: YouTube, Google Search, League of Legends, Bet365, Sage, ChatGPT, X (Twitter), and multiple e-commerce platforms all showing downtime around the same time.
Wait… wasn’t there another major outage just last month?
Yes — Amazon AWS had an outage in October, followed by Azure issues shortly after. Cloudflare going down now means three major internet providers have experienced failures within weeks. Experts are worried this shows how much of the world depends on a very small number of infrastructure giants.
What caused the Cloudflare outage?
Cloudflare called it an “internal service degradation” triggered by an unexpected traffic spike at 11.20am UK time. While fixing it, they had to disable an encryption service in London, suggesting one of their critical nodes was overloaded. The company restored services fully by 2.42pm on November 17, 2025.
What does this mean for businesses?
